Liebesleid (Love's Sorrow) – Kreisler (arr. Rachmaninoff)

Rachmaninoff's transcription of Kreisler's Liebesleid. In English, "Love's Sorrow" (and often incorrectly written as 'Liebeslied', "Love song" which gives it a completely different meaning), this has been one of the most requested pieces since the beginning of the channel, and is one of Rachmaninoff's most charming piano transcriptions. A perfect example of Rachmaninoff's beautifully dizzy contrapuntal writing, the interplay between the voices here is so melancholic, it's almost as if these melodies are the two voices that are currently going through 'love's sorrow' (listen to the sad conversation between the two melodies in the RH at 1:19).
